Ford has announced that the company is using new techniques including eye tracking, to gather emotional and logical customer insights, to learn about how buyers visually discover new cars and trucks.
According to Ford, a great-looking interior design can make the vehicle look more appealing to new buyers, but the design has to cater to the needs of the customers.
At the later stage of the research, the company is planning to use tools to measure customer response to color, materials, and any other critical element.
The automaker highlighted that it used similar approach to designing the interior of the new two-door supercar Ford GT.
Initially, Ford identified the main components for the car's interior, and then the design was created using new principles and innovative design solutions.
Ford highlighted that it used three guiding principles to create the interior design of the new Ford GT which includes clarity of intent; which prioritizes functionality , innovation; for the development of a new design, and connection; to establish connection between driver and the car through intuitive technology.
Ford Global Product Development VP Raj Nair said, "Vehicle interiors have witnessed one of the biggest evolutions across the history of cars in recent years.
"Not only have we introduced a great deal of useful new technology into our cars and trucks, we consistently are adding better materials, improved design and increased features across the board, from high-end vehicles to entry-level segments.
"All of this leads to a focus on design languages that not only convey the right messages, but deliver on an enhanced user experience."
