US carmaker Ford has launched the new 2013 Escape SUV at its refurbished assembly plant in Louisville.
The new SUV is offered with two EcoBoost engines: 2.0litre four-cylinder engine, 1.6litre four-cylinder, which are expected to offer 33 mpg highway.
It will also be offered with another 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine which could offer 31 mpg highway.
Ford Escape features also include a hands-free liftgate with motion-sensing technology, SYNC with MyFord Touch and active park assist in addition to a new intelligent 4WD system which offers enhanced traction off-road.
The new model is based on the company's C-car platform and will be on sale as Ford Kuga with unique powertrains and features in Europe and China.
Ford has invested $600m to allow the Louisville Assembly plant to manufacture SUV's from its earlier production of body-on-frame for SUVs.
According to the company, the new upgraded Louisville Assembly Plant can produce nearly six different vehicles at the same time.
