KCC Packaging has developed a new biodegradable barrier meal tray that will enable retailers to move away from CPET and aluminium throughout ready meal retail.
The ovenable, microwaveable and compostable tray performs similar to the trays that are in use at present.
According to the company, the sustainable tray has been tested for durability, wet strength and effectiveness in cooking.
KCC will introduce its new product at Pro2Pac 2013 to be held from 17 to 20 March in London ExCeL.
Locksafe watertight, microwaveable containers, Delibox range of clear, hinge-lidded salad containers and Hot Box will also be included in the display.
