Plastic packaging manufacturer Petainer has extended its product portfolio with the launch of the new recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) jar, petainerJar for food industry.
According to the company, the new jar with barrier technology is cost effective and sustainable.
The light weighted jar is said to be helpful in saving freight costs and fuel consumption as more number of jars could be transported with maximum load space on a truck.
Available in sizes that range from 300ml to 7.6l, with standard neck sizes from 63 to 120mm, the jar is also suitable for a range of other food products such as coffee.
Petainer said the new PET jar can be delivered to customers either in a fully blown or in a PET wide mouth preform format with short lead times.
Delivery of jars in preform format, which is said to offer operational benefits as they require less storage space, reduces environmental impact as many more could be transported in fewer shipments.
Petainer Group commercial strategy director Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett said the customers could have ready-blown or preform format jars, manufactured in Europe, at a lower cost in shorter lead times.
"We know that food companies are concerned that their cash flow is severely impacted due to the long period taken up by production and logistics, which outside of Europe can take as much as 12 - 16 weeks," Hartman-Jemmet added.
