Arkema has developed Kynar Aquatec latex, a platform of latex emulsions for waterborne coatings. Arkema's new innovative platform of water-based PVDF fluoropolymer latex emulsions are used by paint formulators to make premium weatherable water-based coatings.
Coatings formulated with these emulsions can provide the durability and performance of traditional solvent-based PVDF fluoropolymer coatings, the company reports. They can easily be applied to a variety of substrates, including metals, plastics, wood, concrete, textiles and previously painted surfaces. The extreme weatherability of a solvent-based PVDF fluoropolymer coating is now available in a VOC-compliant, field- or factory- applied, ambient air-dry system.
Additional benefits include tremendous resistance to dirt pick-up, outstanding water repellency, graffiti resistance and high initial and long term Total Solar Reflectance and Emissivity (cool roof).
A Technical Presentation about "Platform of water-based PVDF fluoropolymer" (conference #83) is being held on September 16th from 10h55 until 11h45 at Auditory 1/ Resins and Emulsions.
