Minor Slump in Particleboard Prices in The First Quarter Continued in April and May

The minor slump in particleboard prices in the first quarter of 2012 continued in April and May, as well. Prices thus once again failed to stabilise, something that had been expected at the end of March. A variety of particleboard producers and even some buyers said that the downturn in prices had slowed in the course of the past few weeks. This trend is primarily the result of a sharp increase in adhesive resin costs in May, which resulted in an additional worsening in particleboard manufacturers’ margins, which were already tight because of falling prices in recent months. Nonetheless, spot offers are still available, especially for mass grades, and are sometimes priced significantly below the average. Source: euwid-wood-products
