Russian automotive production increased 40% in terms of volume in 2011 to nearly two million units, according to HaloPolymer, a producer of fluorinated polymers based in the country. The bulk of production (87.4%) was passenger cars, whose production increased 44.8% from 2010. The number of imported cars was also up, accounting for 30% of new cars in 2010 compared to 7% in 2000.
