CFS of The Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department Issued a Health Alert

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has issued a health alert, urging people not to consume pre-packaged mixed soybean paste manufactured in Korea as it may contain peanut, which is not mentioned on the label.

The product associated with the alert is 500g Mixed Soybean Paste. This product was manufactured by Daesang and imported by Kofco.

Commenting on the warning, CFS spokesperson said that the agency has discovered that the product affected by the alert was on sale in certain supermarket chains.

"The concerned importer indicated to the CFS that recall of the product concerned is under way," added the spokesperson.

CFS noted that warning letters will be issued to the importer and supermarkets concerned.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the health alert.

Consumption of this product may cause allergic reactions in people sensitive or allergic to peanuts.

In addition, the agency has also warned people not to consume Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Collection Giant Egg, as it may contain small pieces of plastic.
