Pilkington Glass has decided to close one of the two float lines at Cowley Hill site in Saint Helens, United Kingdom.
The main reason for the closure, announced by the company, is the lack of demand for flat glass due to the continued downturn in the construction sector, leading to huge losses of the company.
The company plans to close the line in November 2013. All other glass processing at the site of Cowley Hill, including plating, silver plating and lamination, as well as warehouse operations will be carried out in full. Production of float glass will continue on the second floor Greengate in Saint Helens.
