General Mills has extended its Yoplait yoghurt brand with the introduction of Yoplait frozen yoghurt, which will be available in original and Greek varieties.
The launch marks Yoplait's first entry into the frozen category. The new products will be available in pints and bars, offering a healthier alternative to ice cream, General Mills said.
"Yoplait frozen yogurt is a refreshing and rewarding way to feel good about the nutrition of yogurt with a new smooth and creamy ice cream-like experience," said Jill Feuerhelm, marketing manager. "We've taken the most popular flavors and transformed them into frozen yogurt."
Flavours on offer include in the original format include: strawberry, harvest peach, strawberry banana, cherry orchard, mountain blueberry, vanilla and mixed berry. While the Greek flavours are: honey caramel, strawberry, blueberry, peach, black cherry, raspberry fig and vanilla.
General Mills may have been late to the table when the popularity of Greek yoghurt jumped in the US, but this latest major Yoplait product launch demonstrates that the group understands the need to innovate in order to win over increasingly hard pressed US consumers.
