Genius Electrical Optical Co., Ltd.’s consolidated revenue hit all-time high of NT$1.2 billion (US$42 million at US$1:NT$29) in October, rising 30.7% from a month earlier and 87.58% year on year.
Industry executives ascribed the handsome growth mostly to the company’s supplies of digital camera lens modules to Apple iPhone 5, iPad mini and iPad 4 and increased supplies to non Apple smartphones.
This quarter, Apple is projected to ship 45-50 million iPhones of various models, a huge surge from last quarter’s 26 million systems.
The company’s previous record high was NT$1 billion (US$35 million) set in February this year.
In the Jan.-Oct. period of this year, the company scored total consolidated revenue of NT$9 billion (US$313 million), surging 36.6% from the same period of last year.
Largan Precision Co., Ltd., Genius’s nearest rival in Taiwan, had similar revenue performance as Genius. Largan’s October revenue posted a 34% increase over a month earlier and 71.4% over a year earlier. Supplies to iPhones 5 were also contributed to the company’s brisk growth.
Largan executives estimated the company’s November revenue to outstrip its October result. Industry executives projected the company’s revenue for this quarter to rise around 50% from last quarter to hit NT$6.5-7 billion (US$224-241 million).
Industry executives estimated strong demands for iPhone 5 and mainland China’s robust market for smartphones would maintain high revenues at the two companies by the end of this year.
