Protective packaging materials manufacturer Pregis has announced plans to install new custom-built converting line at its manufacturing plant located at Plymouth in Indiana, US.
The new equipment is said to be deployed to manufacture low-density polyethylene hybrid cushioning (HC) film, which is used by its AirSpeed Versa brand of protective packaging equipment.
Slated to be operational by the end of third quarter, the new line is expected to double previous production capacity.
The company is also planning to move its Systems Equipment Center out of the Plymouth plant into a separate 62,000ft2 facility to configure custom protective packaging systems.
Pregis president and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said the demand is increasing for the company's packaging materials and systems.
"By increasing our HC film output and moving our equipment center to a larger facility, we will be better able to service growing customer requirements for custom protective packaging systems and materials," Baudhuin added.
Featuring a pad of small, square, proprietary air chambers vs one large air bag, HC cushioning is suitable for void fill, cushioning, containment, wrapping and other packaging needs.
