Anheuser-Busch Invests $170m in Metal Container Corporation Facility in US

Anheuser-Busch is investing $170m in expansion of its Metal Container Corporation (MCC) subsidiary's facility in Jacksonville, as part of its plan to increase production of Budweiser and Bud Light aluminum bottles.

The expansion project will also create 75 jobs at the facility.

The company began producing aluminum bottles in 2013. This will be the second MCC facility at Jacksonville for the company, which has been brewing in the city since 1969.

The facility expansion is being funded by an incentive program in collaboration with the state of Florida and Jacksonville city.

Anheuser-Busch vice president of supply Pete Kraemer said: "We are pleased to maintain such strong partnerships with the city of Jacksonville and state of Florida, where we've proudly brewed beers, produced packaging and done business for nearly 50 years.

"The growing demand for our Budweiser and Bud Light aluminium bottles has helped drive growth and development in Jacksonville. We appreciate the support of our partners in Florida and thank our employees for their dedication."

Metal Container Corporation, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, operates seven facilities in the US. The operation also produces cans and lids for major US soft drink companies including Pepsi and Monster Beverage Corporation.

Anheuser-Busch is the US subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev and operates 16 local breweries, 17 distributorships and 23 agricultural and packaging facilities across the US, with a capital investment of more than $15.9bn. Its flagship brewery remains in St. Louis, Missouri, and is among the global company's largest and technologically advanced breweries.
