Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, the bottling partner of Coca-Cola in India, plans to construct a new bottling plant in Telangana, a southern state of India, with an investment of about $163.5m (INR10bn).
The company has sought land from the state government to build the proposed facility.
An official release stated: "Executive Vice President of the company (The Coca-Cola Company) and President, Bottling Investments, Irial Finan and the Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd (HCCB), the company-owned bottler in India, T Krishnakumar, conveyed the proposal when they called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat here."
The state government has assured Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages its support in identifying suitable land to build the facility.
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages manufactures, packages, and handles sale and distribution of beverages under The Coca-Cola Company trademark.
Coca-Cola's rival Pepsi had invested around INR12bn ($196m) at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh state.
