Cars with factory installed safety and security telematics are expected to increase to 15.7% in 2013 across the globe, according to the report by the ABI Research.

The report revealed that growing knowledge regarding the importance of telematics used for the safety and security in the consumers and governments will drive the growth.

ABI Research VP and practice director Dominique Bonte said that mandates for stolen vehicle tracking in Brazil (CONTRAN) and emergency calling in Russia (ERA GLONASS) are finally becoming a reality in 2013.

"And the EU's eCall is being prepared for launch in 2015," Bonte added.

The vehicle telematics includes reactive solutions to systems that can help to avoid safety and security hazards, monitor driver behavior, reduce the risk of accidents.

Services include insurance telematics/UBI that offer prognostics and preventive maintenance to avoid break downs and reducing repair costs.

The OEMs and dealerships considering telematics as a customer relationship tool to build a customer base will also cause increase in the telematics, which includes remote diagnostics and remote update as the features.
