Swedish-Danish cooperative Arla Foods is set manufacture of Anchor block butter at the production facility in Westbury,UK,boosting the company's butter production in the country.
This move is a part of Arla's strategy to move Anchor butter production from New Zealand to UK.
The company will initially produce only Anchor block butter at the plant.Eventually,it will produce a full range of Anchor brand products including spreadable products.
Arla supply chain director Lars Dalsgaard said that shifting the production to the UK was part of a long-term growth strategy-followed by Arla's investment in Westbury plant.
"It is a further example of Arla's commitment to the UK as we have created a home for more British cream and are adding value to it,"Dalsgaard added.
UK-produced Anchor block butter will be available at stores in 250g packs.
Arla owns a stake in Westbury plant alongside First Milk and Milk Link(soon to merge with Arla).Arla currently produces Anchor retail butter at the Westbury plant.
