North American truckers ordered more trucks in November 2013 than they did last year, according to commercial vehicle data analysts at Americas Commercial Transportation (ACT) Research.
ACT researchers expect truck orders for Classes 5 through 7 to total 18,000 and Class 8 orders to total 21,200 units, exceeding earlier predictions.
How does that compare to last year? Last November, medium-duty truck orders were 26 percent lower and Class 8 orders were six percent lower.
But Class 8 trucks had a big spike in orders in October and since then, have retreated. Even so, they're still up 13 percent year-to-date.
The margin of error on ACT's estimates is plus or minus five percent.
