VICTOR Introduced an Optical Thickness Gauge for Manufacturers

Bristol Instruments The thickness of materials such as specialty plastic films, medical membranes, and ophthalmic products is measured with reliable accuracy.

VICTOR, NEW YORK February 5, 2013 – Bristol Instruments, Inc., a leader in optical interferometer-based instrumentation, has introduced an optical thickness gauge for manufacturers whose development and production processes require precise thickness information. High accuracy and exceptional repeatability result in the most reliable thickness measurement available.

The 157 Series Optical Thickness Gauge uses Bristol Instruments' proven wavelength meter technology which is used in hundreds of research laboratories and manufacturing facilities around the world. Absolute thickness of a single layer or multiple layers is measured to an accuracy of ± 0.1 μm and with a repeatability of ± 0.05 μm. What's more, this performance is guaranteed over long periods of time by continuously referencing the measurements to a built-in standard of length.

"Measuring material thickness is critical for a variety of applications," said Dr. Brian Samoriski, President of Bristol Instruments. "Our new 157 Optical Thickness Gauge does this with a superb combination of accuracy, reliability, and affordability to satisfy the needs of both the R&D scientist and the manufacturing engineer."

About Bristol Instruments

Bristol Instruments designs, manufactures, and markets precision instruments based on its expertise in optical interferometry. Bristol's flagship products accurately characterize the wavelength and spectral properties of lasers used by scientists and engineers at universities, government laboratories, and industrial laboratories. They are also used for the development and production testing of laser transmitters used in optical fiber communications. In addition, Bristol Instruments provides interferometer-based products to reliably measure critical physical dimensions of materials such as specialty plastic films, medical membranes, and ophthalmic products.
