US carmaker Ford Motors is recalling 10,500 units due to a transmission sensor defect.
According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the effected models include 2011 and 2012 F-150 pickups, 2012 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models, and 2012-2013 Ford Mustang vehicles.
Ford said that the affected vehicles will experience one of several issues with their automatic transmissions, including the transmission not shifting into reverse when the gearshift lever is moved to the "R" position further leading to a collision or a pedestrian being hit.
The defects also include non illumination of "R" lamp on the dashboard, and the backup lamps not operating.
According to Ford, about 60,000 units the Windstar, produced between 1998 and 2003 are also affected by this recall.
