German Koenig & Bauer (KBA) is set to deliver a new medium-format KBA Rapida 106 to Russian packaging printer Typografia Petchatnja in May 2014.
The new 25m-long press is said to be the fourth KBA Rapida press commissioned by the printing company.
The company has installed a Rapida 74 with five printing units and a coater in 2005; a KBA Rapida 105 with six inking units and a coater in 2008; and a Rapida 106 with the same configuration in 2010.
The move by the pharmaceutical packaging firm is aimed at growing its business and meeting the demands from its customers.
KBA Rapida 106 features eight printing units and two coaters. It also includes carton printing and UV hybrid operation.
To perform small print runs for the pharmaceutical industry, automatic plate changing and CleanTronic washing systems integrated in the press will ensure fast job changes.
The press also features QualiTronic Professional inline color control; a full-sheet scanner DensiTronic PDF; VariDryBlue drying systems to reduce energy consumption and an emission extraction system.
The packaging firm will expand its main production hall with a further investment following the installation of the new press.
