A gallery revealing more of the Infiniti Q30 concept has been released just hours before the car is to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show.
Showing more of the exterior than the sole image released last month, the new gallery also details the interior of the model that is set to become the luxury brand’s first small car.
Clearly taking inspiration for its exterior from the 2011 Infiniti Etherea concept and the Q50 sedan – the latter due in Australia in the final quarter of this year – the four-seat concept’s interior is far more edgy.
The images show a flat-bottom steering wheel sitting in front of a purple-lit digital display with a swooping white-leather dash complimented by white seats highlighted by contrasting black baseball-style stitching.
Touted by Infiniti as a “unique fusion” of coupe, hatch and crossover styling, the Q30 concept is to spawn a production version due to start life on the assembly line in late 2014 before arriving on local shores in 2015.
Intended to challenge the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3/Q3, the Q30 is expected to bear the fruit of the Japanese marque’s recent partnership with Mercedes-Benz by sharing both underpinnings – the A-Class and B-Class’ ‘MFA’ platform – and turbocharged four-cylinder engines with the German car maker.
Designed to appeal to younger consumers seeking an alternative to ‘traditional’ premium compact vehicles, Infiniti says the Q30 concept combines the sportiness of a coupe with the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover.
