British Sawmills Were Only Able to Raise Their Sales Prices by Around £6/m³

The price hikes to the tune of £15-20/m³ demanded by various suppliers for softwood lumber deliveries in the second quarter of 2012 have not been fully implemented on the British market to date. In this vein, British sawmills were only able to raise their sales prices by around £6/m³ compared to the first quarter so far. Additional price hikes could not be pushed through due to the relatively high lumber supply on the British market. Cheaper offers made by Irish sawmills, for example, undermined such efforts, although the overall quantity of lumber shipped to the UK market from Ireland is relatively low at around 300, 000m³/year.
