A groundbreaking and inspiring event will be taking place that challenges gender diversity and calls for an end to workplace bias by de-genderising industries and employment.
Many countries worldwide, including Australia, have worked hard over the years, making significant progress with workplace equality. Discussions abound for equal remuneration, employment opportunities and family friendly policies for men and women. The aim of true gender workplace equality is achieve a level playing field.
“Gender should never be a part of the conversation in the first place. Workplace equality, gender bias or de-genderisation of the workplace as I call it, is not about pitching men against women. It’s time that the industry stopped treating and rewarding men and women in the same roles differently,” said Amanda O’Brien, national director of SCLAA & CEO of Xtreme Freight.
“It’s the best person for the job who should get the job, regardless of gender. Any de-genderised workplace attracts top talent when skills are respected and recognised, and not gender. Considerable research shows that de-genderised businesses perform better by bringing together varied perspectives producing a holistic analysis of business issues spurring greater effort and improved decision making.”
This event, presented by the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA), will change the think-tanks of government and industry. “This event highlights the needs for men and women by leading industry de-genderisation conversations. Industry leaders, both men and women, are supporting this initiative and adding voice to these vital conversations,” said Mark Skipper, chairman of SCLAA.
“It’s not about tokenism, it’s not women versus men, or another ‘Women’s Event’. It’s time to de-genderise the industry and employment. The SCLAA is proud to be leading the conversation.”
