Australia’s leading supply chain and logistics event, Smart Conference & Expo has launched a new award to recognise excellence and achievement in event, humanitarian and military logistics.
The newest addition to the prestigious Smart Awards in 2013, the Award for Excellence in Event, Humanitarian or Military Logistics joins categories for excellence in manufacturing, supply chain management, transport and logistics, and procurement.
Smart program director Mal Walker said the new award was designed to recognise logistics professionals in sectors sometimes overlooked by the supply chain industry.
“The award is open to all Australian organisations that can demonstrate excellence and significant achievement in the supply chain supporting a major event, humanitarian relief or military logistics anywhere in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Mr Walker.
“Judges will place emphasis on the efficiency with which the supply chain is developed and integrated, the contribution of the supply chain to the success of the mission, task or event, and the effectiveness of ‘bump out’ in reducing the footprint afterwards.”
Mr Walker said entries for the new award should demonstrate innovation, speed of development and delivery, efficient workforce management, multi-agency integration, planned and well-executed transitions, effective equipment and stores recovery and minimal impacts upon the environment.
Nominations are now open for all categories in 2013 Smart Awards, with the winners to be honoured at the Smart Supply Chain Industry Dinner in Sydney on June 27, 2013.
The awards will be the culminating event of Smart 2013, which will bring together more than 900 leading supply chain and logistics practitioners to hear from over 80 local and international speakers at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.
