AMT Is Now Available for The Freightliner Cascadia Equipped with The Detroit DD13 Engine

The DT12 automated manual transmission (AMT) is now available for the Freightliner Cascadia equipped with the Detroit DD13 engine, Detroit Diesel Corp. announced.

The DT12 AMT merges the ease of an automatic with the efficiency of a manual transmission, the company says. The combination transmission is best suited for regional haul, pick-up and delivery applications, according to Detroit.

Brad Williamson, Detroit's manager of engine and component marketing for Daimler Trucks North America, explains why this transmission is effective.

"Our regional haul customers are seeking ways to extend fuel economy, because of the type of routes that they run, which often involve a lot of stop and go operations," said Williamson "Together, the DT12 and the DD13 provide a smart, productive solution that boosts efficiency."

The DT12 has performance features that further maximize efficiency, such as creep mode, which modulates the clutch to improve low-speed maneuverability, making backing up to a loading dock or maneuvering through tight city traffic easier. Skip Shift, which automatically skips gears, enables the transmission to run through lower gears faster to achieve cruising speed sooner.

The DT12 has the standard warranty, five years or 750,000 miles, with a three-year/350,000- mile warranty on the clutch.

The Detroit Customer Service works to provide immediate access to maintenance information throughout Canada and the United States.
