Finger Lakes Farmstead Cheese Is Recalling 12 Wheels of Gouda Cheese

US-based establishment Finger Lakes Farmstead Cheese is recalling 12 wheels of Gouda cheese, as it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes Type 1, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The product associated with the recall is Finger Lakes Farmstead Cheese Schuyler Gouda or Bier Meck Gouda with a production date of 20 December 2012.

This recall was initiated after a FDA's product sampling found that the Gouda cheese contained Listeria monocytogenes Type 1.

According to the company, the recalled products were sold to the distributor Adventure in Food Trading on 26 March 2013.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease that results in high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
