The Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) has selected the Wi-SUN Alliance specification for the wireless protocol between smart meters and home energy management systems (HEMS) for its Wireless B route. TEPCO plans to deploy 27 million smart meters over the next 10 years.
