Japan's Import of Stainless Steel in September Fall by 24.4% Year on Year

According to statistics released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the country imported 12,438 tons of stainless steel in September, rising by 0.4% from a month ago while falling by 24.4% year on year.

In September, the country’s import revenues generated by stainless steel totaled US$47.294 million. The import prices averaged at US$3,802.38/ton, rising by 3.3% month on month.

In the first nine months of this year, Japan’s imports of stainless steel amounted to 129,991 tons.

In the given period of time, South Korea was the largest stainless steel exporter to Japan with 93,667 tons; Taiwan was the second largest one with 13,788 tons and China was the third largest one with 8,652 tons.
