NABI Bus Has Secured a Contract to Offer 265 Buses to The Metropolitan Transit Authority

Heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer New Flyer's subsidiary NABI Bus has secured a contract to supply 265 buses to the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Houston in the US.

Under the contract, New Flyer will deliver 265 units of NABI 40-foot transit buses with clean diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) propulsion systems through 2016.

All the buses will be manufactured at NABI's Anniston, Alabama facility in the US and will feature a stainless steel structure.

New Flyer president and CEO Paul Soubry said with more than 900 buses delivered to Metro by the company since 1996, the new NABI stainless steel buses are a complement to its overall product line.

"All 265 buses produced for Metro will utilize the stainless steel structure due to Houston's coastal environment," Soubry added

Delivery of the busses is scheduled to start in summer 2014 with 40 diesel buses, followed by a mixture of 45 diesel buses and 80 CNG buses in 2015, while 100 units of CNG buses are scheduled for delivery in 2016.
