British luxury automaker Bentley has forayed into the plug-in hybrids vehicle segment with the introduction of its new Bentley Hybrid Concept sedan at the ongoing Beijing International Automotive Show in China.
The new Hybrid Concept vehicle is based on the Mulsanne and features exterior and interior styling element made using copper, in order to highlight the radiator grille and headlamps.
Bentley Hybrid Concept car is claimed to increase power by about 25%, reduce emissions by 70% and offer transit distance of about 50km on electric power only.
Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Schreiber said, "Adding performance and efficiency with no compromise to luxury -Plug-in hybrids are an important part of Bentley's exciting future and we are proud to be pioneering these developments in the ultra luxury sector."
The car was accompanied by Bentley's three Chinese debuts including the new Flying Spur V8, the new Continental GT Speed and GT V8 S.
Flying Spur V8 is equipped with 507PS engine offering acceleration of 0-100kmph in 5.2sec, while the Continental GT Speed comes with 635 PS and 820 Nm of torque powertrain offering speed of 206mph.
Bentley is also planning to launch a plug-in hybrid SUV in 2017.
