Biocatalysts, a UK-based enzyme manufacturer, is set to exhibit four of its new enzyme products for the food industry at Food ingredients Europe 2013 (FiE).
The four enzymes are Pectinase872L, Promod950L, Promod782MDP and Flavorpro937MDP.
Pectinase 872L, a fruit firming enzyme, will increase the quality of the fruit or vegetable by making sure that the product retain its structure and form within the processed food. Further, the enzyme addresses breaking down or damage issues with soft fruit and vegetables during processing.
Biocatalysts' second enzyme product Promod 950L that is both Kosher and Halal enables bakers and brewers to attain necessary hydrolysis of yeast to raise the solubility and yield during the manufacture of yeast extracts.
The company claims that Promod 782MDP could reduce bitterness and produce bland tasting whey protein hydrolysates, which is useful for manufacturers in powder mixes, acid beverages and yoghurt drinks. Flavorpro 937MDP can be employed to remove bitterness while using animal and bacteria proteases and also it is ideal for vegetarian, kosher and halal products, since it is a non-animal product.
Biocatalysts will also promote its £1m enzyme production, which began commercial operations earlier in July 2013. The new facility is aimed at enhancing its intracellular and secreted enzyme production, thereby sustaining its market positioning.
