It is learned that Brazil's steel distributors purchased 15.8% more in April, compared to the same month last year and 4.3% up compared to this March. According to National Institute of Steel Distributors (INDA), the total volume of steel purchased was 401,600 tons, including plates, hot galvanized, electro-galvanized, pre-painted and galvalume, hot rolled and cold rolled products. With regarding to the accumulated number, the distributors in Brazil purchased 1.5 million tons of steel from this January to April, an increase of 4% compared the same period last year. On the other hand, the total sales from this January to April totaled 1.43 million tons, a slight increase of 0.1% over the same period of 2012. The steel imports to Brazil totaled 434,300 tons, down by 26.5% on the same basis of comparison.
