Turkey's Total Steel Pipe Exports Increased by 15.8 Percent Compared to The Previous Year

According to the statistics provided by the Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association (CEBID), in 2012 Turkey's total steel pipe exports amounted to 1.91 million metric tons, increasing by 15.8 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $1.77 billion, up by 6.4 percent compared to 2011.

According to CEBID, steel pipe exports, accounting for 10 percent of Turkey's total steel exports in 2012, hit a historical record in terms of annual export increase.

In 2012, Turkey's biggest destinations for its steel pipe exports were Iraq, the US and Algeria. Significant increases in Turkey's steel pipe shipments to Algeria, Azerbaijan and Georgia and rising demand from the US and Iraq balanced the decreased imports from the EU.

In December last year, Turkey's total steel pipe exports amounted to 200,000 metric tons, up 37.9 percent year on year, while the revenue from these exports totaled $186 million, rising 28.5 percent compared to December 2011. In November last year, Turkey's steel pipe exports had amounted to 202,000 mt, constituting a record monthly volume for 2012, with revenue of $180 million. CEBID noted that November and December of 2012 marked significant year-on-year increases in Turkey's steel pipe exports.
