According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s imports of steel flat products including hot rolled, cold rolled, coasted steel products totaled 457,270 tons in May, decreasing by 20.5% from a month ago and falling by 9.5% year on year.
Meanwhile, the country’s import values generated by steel flat products totaled US$317 million in May, falling by 19.2% from a month earlier and decreasing by 16.1% year on year.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s imports of steel flat products amounted to 2.56 million tons, rising by 29.1% year on year.
In the given period of time, Russia was the largest exporter of steel flats to Turkey with 599,603 tons; Ukraine was the second largest one with 464,563 tons and France was the third largest one with 371,241 tons.
