Nissan has opened its second manufacturing facility in Thailand, which will produce the NP300 Navara, a new generation pickup truck.
The 580,000m2 plant was built with an investment of THB3.7bn ($114.3m), and will support the region with 2,000 jobs.
It is expected to produce 150,000 units each year on reaching full production capacity, and export more than 50% of the production to 45 countries across the world.
Nissan executive vice president responsible for global manufacturing Fumiaki Matsumoto said: "Thailand is the engine of growth for us in the region, so we're excited to be opening this second plant today that will produce our latest pickup."
"It signifies our optimism for Thailand, as a growing automotive market, a center of manufacturing excellence for the region and an export hub for the world."
The company now operates two plants and an R&D facility in the Asian country.
Nissan said it will recycle all industrial wastewater through the reverse osmosis process as well as train employees on waste management and resource reduction.
