Eversol Will Team up with JA Solar Holdings Co.

Taipei, Dec. 14, 2012 (CENS)--Eversol Corp., Taiwan’s No.3 manufacturer of crystalline silicon wafers, will team up with JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. of mainland China and West Holdings Co. of Japan to set up a solar-power plant in Japan.

As the trio is estimated to inject a total of around NT$5 billion (US$172 million at US$1:NT$29) into the power plant, which is projected to generate five megawatts in the initial stage, the plant would be the largest that a Taiwanese solar-energy manufacturer has ever invested overseas.

Also, the plant marks the trend of Taiwan’s solar-energy industry going international and the largest solar-power venture that Taiwan’s and mainland China’s solar-energy industries have ever co-invested.

According to Eversol Chairman Y.C. Gou, the Japanese government introduced subsidy package for solar-power plant investors after the March 11, 2011 earthquake, enabling them to make money back in eight years with a return of over 10%.

He estimated Japan’s solar-power market will expand at a double-digit rate in the fiscal year 2012, which will end on March 31, 2013.

Eversol has co-opened a solar-module venture, E-Solar, with West Holdings in Shikoku and invested in a 1.5-megawatt power factory in Hiroshima. In the deal, Eversol will supply crystalline silicon wafers, JA Solar will make solar cells out of the wafers and E-Solar will assemble the cells into modules. West will install the modules.
