Solartech likely to return to profitability in June,says chairman Nuying Huang,Taipei;Jackie Chang,DIGITIMES[Thursday 21 June 2012]Sino-American Silicon(SAS),Solartech,Sunrise and Sunshine PV held a joint press conference to exhibit their latest technologies on June 20.
Kong-Hsin Liu,chairman of Taiwan-based solar cell maker Solartech,has said the company is seeing steady orders due to the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties announced by the US.Solar cell quotes in June for China-based customers can increase by 3-7%.Solartech may return to profitability in June,said Liu.
Solartech indicated recent capacity utilization rates have reached 80-90%.The firm noted that lack of sufficient amount of workers has been preventing the firm from reaching full capacity.Nevertheless,order visibility is clear to third-quarter 2012.
Liu added that China has been increasing orders for Taiwan solar cells due to the preliminary result of the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations announced by the US government.
Solartech hopes to increase solar cell quotes by 3-7%on China-based orders as China-based firms have been requesting average procurement prices relatively lower than customers from Europe and the US.
Solartech introduced the new Fortis series of high-efficiency multi-crystalline solar cells with average conversion efficiency reaching 17.75%and highest efficiency at 18%.The solar cells have low power loss features and after being packaged into solar modules,the power-generation can reach 255W on average,6.3%higher than mainstream of 240W per module.
The firm indicated that the new products have been recognized by customers in Europe and Japan.
Sunrise,a Taiwan-based solar cell maker that focuses on mono-crystalline high-efficiency products,anticipates government permission to be listed in Taiwan Stock Exchange in July and debut in September.
According to Sunrise,the P-Type high-efficiency mono-crystalline solar cell series Celco has highest efficiency reaching 20.2%and average efficiency at 18.6-18.8%.The firm is ready to put the new product into commercial productions.
Sunshine PV,the CIGS thin-film solar subsidiary of Solartech,introduced the 110x140 square centimeter CIGS module that has received TUV and China's Golden Sun CGC certifications.
