Average Daily Crude Steel Production in China in Late March Decrease of 1.1 %

On April 10, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced that in late March (Mar. 21-31) this year the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China totaled 1.669 million mt, up 1.34 percent compared to mid-March (Mar. 11-20). Meanwhile, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China in late March was estimated at 2.073 million mt, indicating a slight decrease of 1.1 percent compared to mid-March.

According to the CISA's previous figures, in mid-March this year the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China had amounted to 1.6917 million mt, up 1.88 percent from early March (Mar. 1-10). In mid-March, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China was estimated 2.096 million mt, indicating a slight decrease of 0.44 percent compared with early March.

Meanwhile, as of March 31, 2014, overall inventory of the main finished steel products in the major steel markets in China totaled 15.4247 million mt, down 9.47 percent as compared to the figure recorded on March 20.
