Nebula 12 Is a Weather Forecasting Lamp Created by Micasa LAB

The Nebula 12 is a weather forecasting lamp created by the Swiss design studio Micasa LAB. This lamp creates a billowing indoor cloud to mimic the weather outside. By combining liquid nitrogen and hot water, steam is created and is kept in place by vacuum suction.

The Nebula 12 – Weather Forecasted From Your Lamp?

The form the cloud takes and the color of the lamp is dependent upon the weather forecast for the next 48 hours. This forecast is sent to the lamp via a WiFi connection with a Nokia Lumia 920 phone – the only phone the lamp works with so far.

On an overcast day a gray cloud appears, while low pressure is signalled by a red light shining through the cloud. On sunny days the cloud does not take form, leaving a warm yellow light, and at sunset the light turns orange. The Nebula 12 – Weather Forecasted From Your Lamp?_1
