Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Co. Plans to Roll out Domestic Smart Meters

Following on from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant crisis last March, Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Co. plans to roll out domestic smart meters in the autumn next year. In total 27 million installations will occur by 2022, as smart meters will also be installed at business sites.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. plans to install smart meters to help counteract the country's rising fuel costs for thermal power, the generation of which was increased due to the suspension of nuclear power.
