Glenmorangie Invites Budding Designers to Design Ideas to a Special Online Gallery

The initiative is part of Glenmorangie's unique crowdsourcing Cask Masters whisky creation programme which aims to get members of the public involved in the whisky-making process.

Crowdsourcing is the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, and especially from an online community, rather than from traditional employees or suppliers.

The initiative?was launched on the 1 March 2013 and will run for 18 months with the new Limited Edition Glenmorangie whisky ready for release in the autumn of 2014.

The whisky, extra-matured in exclusive Manzanilla sherry casks, has already been selected when three casks of whisky were put to a public vote earlier this year. Whisky fans have also selected the name Taghta (Tuh-ta), Gaelic for 'chosen' from a shortlist of three names translated by Gaelic expert Aonghas MacCoinnich.

Glenmorangie has announced that stage three of the five-step Cask Masters programme has begun. Working with packaging expert Jon Davies from well-known London design agency Butterfly Cannon, Glenmorangie invites budding designers to upload pictures and design ideas to a special online gallery.

The ideas will be shortlisted and the best three will again will be put to a public vote. Members of the public can take part if they log onto www.glenmorangie.com/caskmasters

Cask Masters is being overseen by Glenmorangie's Bill Lumsden, director of distilling & Whisky Creation, together with an expert in every field of the five-step process.

Bill Lumsden said: "Stage three of Cask Masters is now open and it's going to be very interesting. Have you ever wandered through duty free at an airport wondering just how companies come up with the wonderful designs on the packaging? We're sure the public won't disappoint: we're certainly impressed with the results so far."
