According to data released by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan produced 236,996 tons of hot rolled (HR) stainless steel in September, down by 0.9% from a month ago and decreasing by 5.9% year on year.
Among them, the output of chrome-based HR stainless steel was at 124,719 tons, up by 2.3%; that of nickel-based HR stainless steel totaled 112,277 tons, decreasing by 4.2%, both compared to that in a month ago.
In the third quarter of this year, the country’s production of HR stainless steel totaled 716,864 tons, down by 1.7% in comparison of 729,471 tons in a quarter ago.
