Wah Lee benefiting from TSMC,UMC full capacity Patty Wang,Taipei;Adam Hwang,DIGITIMES[Wednesday 16 May 2012]Wah Lee Industrial,a Taiwan-based distributor of electronic materials,has obtained growing orders for silicon wafers,photo resist and other materials used by wafer foundries arising from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's(TSMC)and United Microelectronics Corporation's(UMC)full utilization of advanced foundry processes,according to industry sources.
Wah Lee generated revenues of NT$2.052 billion(US$69.6 million)in April,dropping 3.4%on month and 5.2%on year.January-April revenues of NT$7.696 billion slipped on year by 10.65%.However,Wah Lee expects its revenues for May and the second quarter to grow about 5%sequentially each.
In terms of products,information and communication accounted for 37%of Wah Lee's first-quarter 2012 revenues,followed by solar energy with 18%,flat panel display with 17%,semiconductors with 16%,PCBs with 7%,and others with 5%.The Taiwan market took up 67.5%of revenues,while China and Singapore accounted for 30.0%and 2.5%respectively.
