China-Based LDK Solar Unveiled Its M3 Solar Wafer with Energy Conversion Rates of 17.5-18%

China-based LDK debuts M3 solar wafer with 17.5-18%efficiency Nuying Huang,Taipei;Jackie Chang,DIGITIMES[Wednesday 19 September 2012]China-based LDK Solar unveiled its M3 solar wafer with energy conversion rates of 17.5-18%,0.7pp higher than those of the predecessor model M2 on September 18 in Taipei.Executives from Taiwan-based solar cell firms such as Neo Solar Power,Solartech,and Tainergy attended LDK Solar's product launch.

According to LDK COO and president,Xingxue Tong,the company hopes to have closer cooperation with Taiwan-based solar cell makers.Tong added that amid the weakening economy,LDK Solar has been aiming to roll out solar products with higher quality to shore up its competitiveness.The M3 was originally scheduled for launch in 2013,but the R&D team managed to advance it.

Tong pointed out that the current capacity utilization rate for solar wafers is 50-70%,the highest among all segments in LDK Solar's vertically integrated supply chain.
