According to the report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US imported 2.68 million net tons of steel in April, rising by 4% from a month ago. Among them, 2.087 million net tons were finished steel, up by 1% month on month.
Year to date, the country’s steel imports totaled 10.375 million net tons, falling by 12% year on year. The imports of finished steel amounted to 8.178 million net tons, decreasing by 9% year on year.
Therefore, it’s predicted that the country’s imports of steel and finished steel products would be at 31.1 million tons and 24.5 million tons respectively in 2013, falling by 7% and 5% from a year ago.
