The ExxonMobil Chemical Plant has warned the communities of Mossmorran in the United Kingdom about the intermittent flaring at the Fife Ethylene Plant.
The plant was shutdown for maintenance work and it has restarted again. “As we restart the plant there will be periods of intermittent flaring”, the company said in a statement.
The company has assured the communities that wherever possible the flaring will be routed through the ground flare system to make it less noticeable to the local communities.
The plant apologized if any inconvenience or concern is caused to the people living in the vicinity. “The flare is an essential part of the plant’s safety systems and at no time will there be any danger to local communities or the work force”, said the statement.
ExxonMobil Chemical’s Fife Ethylene Plant is one of Europe’s largest and most modern ethylene plants. The plant employees 170 workers, and 50 core contractors work at the plant.
