Construction Employment Rose in 27 U.S. States From The Month of September 2012 to October

A new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that construction employment rose in 27 U.S. states from the month of September 2012 to October 2012. The largest increase was seen in Alaska, where those employed in construction rose from 12.6 thousand to 13.8 thousand—an increase of 9.5 percent.

Additionally, Mississippi saw a rise in construction-related employment from 44.9 thousand to 46.3 thousand—a 3.1-percent gain. Other states showing sizable increases included Massachusetts, where the number of construction-related employees rose from 103.1 thousand in September to 105.5 thousand, a rise of 2.3 percent. Texas also saw a 2.3-percent increase from 589.8 thousand to 603.4 thousand.

The greatest drop in the United States was seen in Michigan, where the number of construction-related employees dropped from 122.9 thousand in September to 118.4 thousand in July—a fall of 3.7 percent.
