Lasvit to preview at Milan Design Week
Founded in 2007, the brand Lasvit gave new light to Bohemian crystal, taking it into the next millennium. On the occasion of the Milan Design Week, Lasvit presents “Via Lucis”, a trip among unique and contemporary projects enhanced by the know-how and skills of master glassmakers.
The exhibition will be held in the Napoleonic Staterooms of Palazzo Serbelloni, where Napoleon Bonaparte lived during his stay in Milan. A set of precious Bohemian-crystal chandeliers were made for the emperor. Lasvit is returning the historical chandeliers to their original splendour with its restoration work.
In this setting between past and future, great names like Moritz Waldemayer, Daniel Libeskind, the Campana brothers and Arik Levy, have renewed their collaboration with LASVIT reinterpreting past collections in a contemporary way.
In its project “Facet”, a contemporary version of the classical chandelier, Moritz Waldemeyer created a glass hexagonal base resembling a diamond. With just one hanging element, or through a combination of many creating a big chandelier, the FACET models stand out in their ordered and geometrical transparency.
As if trying to systematize the chandelier-making tradition, Moritz took the geometrical shape of the Classic chandelier outline and turned it into a diamond-like hexagonal glass building block. On its own, with just single pendant, or in combination of multiple items into a large chandelier, the FACET modules stand out as clear, disciplined and geometrical. The light source included inside every block allows the FACET system to be universal and almost unlimitedly extendable.
