Thailand's continued strong domestic demand and slowing exports

Japan's steel export down by 1.5% year-on-year to 3.31 million tons year in October, according to the Japan Iron & Steel Federation's (JISF). It is mainly because of continuing strong domestic demand and slower exports to Thailand. The official of JISF said that the Japanese mills are still putting priority on supplying to domestic customers because demand is strong, Meanwhile, the exports to Thailand slows down is also a factor, he added. Japan's steel exports to Thailand in October totaled 386,963 tons, down 7.8% from September. The hot rolled coil (HRC) exports made to Thailand totaled 114,563 tons, slumping by 38.9% year on year. It's analyzed that weak Japanese yen makes the overseas suppliers' prices higher.
