At the Asia Pacific Coatings Show from September 19 to 20 in Jakarta, BYK additives & Instruments will be presenting additive solutions for the coatings and printing inks industry. The areas of focus at this year's show cover the themes: Biotechnology in the coating industry; carbon nanotubes for functional applications; nanotechnology for surfaces.
In recent years, the desire for more environmentally compatible and sustainably produced additives has grown significantly. BYK responded to these challenges with its Greenability concept and presented, with Ceraflour 1000, an additive with wax-like properties that is suitable for all systems, be they aqueous, radiation-curing, solvent-free or solventborne. Ceraflour 1000 provides efficient matting and also involves a soft-touch effect the company said. In addition, systems in which Ceraflour1000 is used exhibit a high degree of transparency and improved scratch resistance.
BYK said the special feature here is that, because the additive is based on renewable raw materials, it represents an extremely interesting alternative to natural and synthetic waxes. The latter, for instance, are based on finite, petrochemical resources. Thanks to biotechnology, the BYK additive is produced instead with the aid of bacteria.
